Dr. Earl Mummert is the founder and hospital director of CAH . A 1977 graduate of Auburn University 's College of Veterinary Medicine , Dr. Earl also received B.S. and M.S. degrees in physiology/cell biology from the University of Maryland . He opened the doors to CAH in September, 1982 with the goal of offering high levels of service and veterinary care to the region.His special interest in surgery, including orthopedics and laser surgery, is complemented by his partner's (and wife's) special interest in internal medicine and critical care. With 60 years of combined experience they offer expertise in all areas of veterinary care. Dr. Earl enjoys boating, gardening and walking the beach with his Golden Retriever, Addie.


Dr Margaret (Mac) Mummert is the co-director and medical director of CAH . Dr. Mac graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University in 1977. Along with her husband and her associates she has been a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Connecticut V.M.A., and the American Animal Hospital Association for many years and continually benefits from the continuing professional education offered by these organizations. Her special interests include internal medicine, critical care, preventive and geriatric medicine. Dr. Mac has worked with many community organizations through the years, including Women's Network of SE CT, Friends of the Library , High Hopes Therapeutic Riding Center , and the CT Valley Pony Club. She enjoys gardening, cooking and being a mom to her son, Brian – a junior at Yale, and daughter, Anya- a high school freshman and avid equestian.



Dr. April White, a graduate of the Royal Veterinary College in London, England, joined CAH in 2005.  Her professional intersets include general small animal practice and she has a special interest in small mammal veterinary medicine.  When she is not at the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family on Fishers Island, as well as playing with ther Boston Terrier, Wilma, and her cat Scooter. 



Dr.Susan Hall, a Connecticut native and 1989 graduate of the University of Connecticut, joined our team in the Spring of 2006. Dr. Hall has enjoyed practicing small animal medicine and surgery since receiving her D.V.M. degree from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1993. Her special interests include internal medicine and critical care, ultrasonography and dermatology. Married, and the mother of daughters Anna and Lydia, Dr Hall enjoys swimming, the family cats, Irish dance and playing the violin.



Dr. Sonya Swinamer joined CAH in July of 2006. She is originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia , Canada and earned her degree from the Atlantic Veterinary College , in Charlottetown , Prince Edward Island . After graduation, she spent two years in St. John's , Newfoundland at a 24 hour primary and critical care small animal clinic. In her spare time Dr. S enjoys riding horses, specifically dressage, sailing, hiking and reading. Sonya and her husband have two kittens and one cat that keep them busy.
